District named in DESE Top 10 lists
May 12, 2004

Springfield Public Schools were recently named to the Top 10 lists for “Highest Performing” and “Most Improved” schools by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The lists are based on five-year averages of student performance demonstrated on the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Test. MAP is Missouri’s mandatory state-wide test used in public schools to measure performance under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

Springfield was recognized 12 times in the highest performing schools category. As was the case last year, only one other Missouri school district appeared more times on this list.

Springfield was recognized three times in the most improved schools category. Only five Missouri school districts were listed more times than Springfield in this category.
