Hutcherson named March Starcatcher Cherokee Middle School science teacher Jacqueline Hutcherson was named Friday as the Springfield Public Schools’ Starcatcher for March. Superintendent Jack Ernst presents the award monthly to an employee who demonstrates a commitment to the mission, belief and vision of the district. Starcatcher nominations are submitted throughout the year by principals and building peers. Hutcherson has taught science at Cherokee for five years. She has taught in the district off and on since 1977. When she was not teaching she was an active parent volunteer. Hutcherson is the chairperson for the science department at Cherokee. Seventy-five of her students entered projects in the regional science fair this year. She has served on textbook adoption committees, written curriculum guides for the district and she was on the Cherokee School Improvement Plan Steering Committee. She has also been a leader in the school’s professional development. |
