Parkview students win state policy debate championship Parkview High School senior Kelsey Tindle and junior Adam Testerman are state champions in policy debate after winning this month at the 2005 Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Speech and Debate Championships at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Testerman and Tindle debated on the subject that the United States should increase its support of United Nations peacekeeping operations. The pair beat out 21 other teams. Parkview junior Bethany Corbin won second place in prose reading and seventh in poetry. Kelsey Tindle placed fourth in extemporaneous speaking. The Parkview team also competed in the National Forensic League district tournament in March and won the sweepstakes award for the best team in the district for the fourth straight year. Parkview’s squad is ranked 10th in the nation and are qualified for the national tournament in Philadelphia June 12-17. Students competing in the national tournament are: Kelsey Tindle and Adam Testerman in policy debate, Patrick Carver and Emma Bentley in public forum debate, Erin Conway in Lincoln-Douglas debate, Matt Suarez and Sam Overton in student congress/house of representatives, Samantha Wingo in dramatic interpretation, Vy Anh Mai in international extemporaneous speaking and Ashley Felton in original oratory. |
