Yale Director of School Development to visit Sprinfield schools
April 26, 2005

M. Ann Levett, Deputy Director of the School Development Program at Yale University, will visit three Springfield public schools this week that have partnered with Drury University in the Yale “Comer Project.”

Levett will visit Boyd Elementary School, Pipkin Middle School and Central High School. She will also guest lecture at Drury and speak with members of Drury’s School of Education and Child Development faculty.

The Comer School Development Program is operated in Springfield as a partnership between Drury University, Springfield Public Schools and Yale University. Created by Dr. James Comer at the Yale Child Study Center, the Comer model creates a school environment dedicated to supporting children as they learn and grow.

Dr. Peggy Riggs, Associate Superintendent for Central, Pipkin and Boyd schools states: “We are excited to have someone of Dr. Levett’s caliber come to Springfield Public Schools to view the Comer Model in action. The collaboration has been very beneficial to our students and staff members, solidifying the K-16 approach to student learning.”
