IB Primary Years training scheduled
June 10, 2005

Parents and teachers preparing for Springfield Public Schools’ new International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme will have important training available to them Monday and Tuesday, June 13 and 14.

Jim Mahoney, former Principal at Academy International Elementary School in Colorado Springs, Colo., will lead the instruction.

Mahoney’s former school opened the country’s first authorized elementary IB-PYP school in 1998. Today Mahoney trains parents and teachers on how to implement their own programs.

Boyd and Field elementary schools will begin offering IB-PYP to students next fall. Staff training begins at 8:30 a.m. Monday in Lay Hall at Drury University. Training continues through mid-day Tuesday, June 14.

Mahoney will also offer information to parents of children who will participate in the new program.

Field parents can meet with him at Evangel Temple Christian Center, 2020 E. Battlefield Road, at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Boyd parents can meet with him at Central Christian Church, 1475 N. Washington Ave., at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
