Ridder begins transition into superintendent
June 2, 2005

Beginning Wednesday, June 1, Dr. Norman Ridder began the transition into his new job as Superintendent of Springfield Public Schools.

Dr. Ridder will work with retiring superintendent Dr. Jack Ernst and other district officials through June to familiarize himself with the district and its operations and become better acquainted with the community as a whole. Dr. Ridder’s first day as superintendent is July 1. Dr. Ernst’s last day is June 30.

School board president Dr. Michael Hoeman said: "We are fortunate to have this time for transition. A superintendent's obligations to his former district usually do not allow for a period of overlap. I believe this will result in Dr. Ridder's being better prepared to assume his responsibilities on July 1."

Dr. Ridder will be paid $12,500 plus benefits during June.

He comes to the district from Colorado Springs School District 11.
