Speech and debate students rank at national competition Parkview and Central high school speech and debate students won honors in last week’s National Forensic League National Speech Tournament, according to official results released this week. Parkview speech and debate students moved past Neosho and now ranks 8th in the nation in cumulative rounds for the Bruno E. Jacob/Pi Kappa Delta National Award in Speech. Last year Parkview ranked ninth. Parkview and Central were among only five schools in the country to win the prestigious School of Excellence Award in debate for having the most debaters in the most rounds at nationals. Lindsey Zhang and Daniel Schultz from Central took third place nationally in the Colorado College Ted Turner Public Forum Debate. Parkview’s Stephanie Hurst took fourth in the nation in storytelling. More than 1,000 of the nation’s top speech and debate students attempted to qualify in each category for this tournament. |
