District meets MSIP standards
March 31, 2006

An area supervisor with the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will tour three Springfield public schools on April 3 as part of a larger verification of the district’s strong performance under the Missouri School Improvement Plan (MSIP).

For the second consecutive year, the district has been granted a waiver of the scheduled MSIP accreditation visit. This is no small accomplishment for a district of Springfield’s size, according to Dr. Dennis Cooper, Area Supervisor with the State Department of Elementary and Second Education.

“This is extremely good news,” said Cooper, who will visit Monday. “It means the district met all performance standards associated with the MSIP. It’s extremely rare for a district as large as Springfield to be waived for an on-site review.”

Springfield is the third largest school district in the state and the only district among the largest four to receive the MSIP waiver, according to Cooper.
