District hires new Kickapoo principal

The Springfield school board Tuesday night approved David Schmitz as the new principal at Kickapoo High School.
Schmitz has been principal at Cherokee Middle School. He will replace Doug Bloch, who has been Kickapoo’s principal for the past five years.
“I look forward to the opportunity to be a part of an excellent school,” said Schmitz. “The students and staff have established a tradition of excellence and I look forward to joining that.”
Schmitz’ officially begins at Kickapoo on July 1.
