Scott Wendt, district Director of Capital Construction, said it can take an average of two years to complete construction of an air conditioning project from the time a bond passes. Specifically, the engineering, design and bidding process can taek up to 12 months, followed by the actual construction that could taek six to 12 more months. After substantial completion, there is a testing and balancing phase that takes another three to six months before the project is considered complete.
STATUS: Construction is complete at Jeffries, on time and under budget. Construction is underway at Pleasant View, Watkins, Study, Bissettand Pershing. Contracts have been awarded for Cowden, Fremont, Holland and Twain, and are scheduled to be completed this fall.
The district is now working on engineering designs for Fremont elementary schools. The final review prints have been received for Bingham, Mann, Portland, Sherwood, and William.
Wanda Gray, Weaver and Cherokee Middle School will get air conditioning as part of larger renovations that are already in process.
