Summer School & Record
In an effort to help students prepare for success, Springfield Public Schools will offer summer classes for students who will be in kindergarten through 12th grade during the 2012-2013 school year.
At the elementary level, Jumpstart Kindergarten, Moving up and English Language Learner classes are programs designed to prepare incoming elementary students with the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful in elementary school.
At the middle school level, students have the opportunity to enroll in classes that will provide reinforcement and provide them with a rigorous and fast paced learning experience. CSI Science and Website Design are just a sample of the classes middle school students have the opportunity to participate in.
High school students can receive up to one full credit during summer school toward the required 25 credits needed for graduation. Core classes in Communication Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education, Fine Arts, Social Studies, Science and English Language Learners are offered.
In addition to our traditional summer classes, we are pleased to provide a program for students who are interested in the arts. The ARTWORKS Program, now in its 30th year, is a multi-disciplinary approach to the arts. The program allows students to study with professional artists and art teachers in the visual media and performing arts for an intensive nine days. The ARTWORKS program is for students who will be in grades 4th through 8th for the 2012-2013 school year.
Summer School registration will begin April 11th at 10:00 a.m. Join us this summer to continue the learning experience with Springfield Public Schools. Information posted at this time is tentative. It is subject to change due to other factors.
Be sure to look at pages 11 and 12 of the Summer School Newspaper for other Summer/Community opportunities. See Safety Council of the Ozarks for more detailed information about the Behind the Wheel program.
