Boundary and Facility Usage Review

Hillcrest High School

Feeder Pattern Adjustments and Building Utilization:

Following are current Kickapoo High school feeder schools and alternates that would reduce the number of split feeder schools (K-12) to Kickapoo High School, as well as improve building utilization throughout that feeder system.

Note: The capacity data is based on September 2007 enrollment and the number of students living within specific school attendance areas as of July 7, 2008. Each “Alternate” is a group of possible changes to improve feeder patterns and/or the efficiency of building usage.

Alternate E: Feeder pattern adjustments and building utilization for the KHS feeder pattern; Wilson’s Creek 5-6.

  1. FEEDER CHANGE: Cowden Elementary School would send all students to Glendale High School shifting 44 students    9-12 from Kickapoo High School (on average 11 incoming freshmen to GHS).
  2. FEEDER CHANGE: Jeffries Elementary School (current boundary) would send all students to Parkview High School shifting 189 students from Kickapoo High School (on average 47 incoming freshmen to GHS).
  3. FEEDER/BOUNDARY CHANGE: New Southwest Elementary School would open as “SPS Choice” or traditional school based on patron input. The new Southwest Elementary boundaries would be carved from within current Cherokee Middle School boundary lines as a K-4.  This reduces Gray Elementary School by 111 students and McBride by 122 students (K-4). The new Southwest Elementary would open with 233 students K-4.
