The Importance of Taking Tests Seriously
In today’s society, we take tests in order to achieve or maintain some level of proficiency or accomplishment. We take tests to become mechanics, teachers, doctors, technicians, and even to test ones driving ability. In order to receive the certification or passing mark, we must prepare ourselves for the test and make a valid effort. Every test that we take measures something and should be taken seriously. Often after speaking with students, I hear the statement “I did not know that this test would affect me in this manner.” Communications about the importance of the test from all stakeholders (students, parents, community, and schools) must improve to increase the success level of all test takers. The message to all test takers, whatever the test (drivers test, MAP test, SRI test, job certification test, etc…) MUST BE, “This test is important to your future so we expect you to do your best.”
“Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character”
