Denise Kelly, Communication Arts Facilitator

Denise Kelly is beginning her second year in the position of K-12 Communication Arts Facilitator, after working in the Springfield Title I Department for 11 years as a reading specialist, literacy coach and district literacy coach trainer.  The continued focus of Springfield’s CA’s department is to support the literacy learning and development of all administrators, teachers, students, community and families.  Denise’s advanced literacy training began at Pittsburg State University where she received a MA degree in Reading. She has since completed a MA in Administrative Leadership Degree from Evangel University and is finishing an Educational Specialist degree in Literacy Leadership from the University of Arkansas Little Rock.  The theme for the department this year is DO SOMETHING.  Waiting for perfection and the fear of failure and hard work can keep a system from trying anything innovative with students and instruction.  Due to the support of Springfield’s District leadership, the communication arts’ department is learning and leading in literacy.
