Summer Academy SMART Board in Math July 12 & 13, 8:30-3:30, Tefft (Grades K-5) July 14 & 15, 8:30-3:30, Tefft (Grades K-5 Repeat) July 19 & 20, 8:30-3:30, Tefft (Grades 6-12) Teach math using 21st Century skills! Learn how to utilize the SMART Board in your math classroom. Participants will create, share, and acquire interactive activities to use in their own elementary math classroom, aligned to SPS math curriculum resources. Sign up on MUNIS. Everyday Math Training for New Teachers August 9, 8:00-3:00, Tefft New elementary teachers who will teach math need Everyday Math training. Participants should register by sending an email to Lynn Neff, including name, school and grade level.
New Teacher Induction August 12 & 13 Teachers new to Springfield Public Schools participate in an induction to the district. Part of the induction activity is spent in the curriculum department. New elementary teachers will participate in a curriculum-rich professional development activity on August 12, 1:00-4:00 at Tefft. New secondary math teachers will participate in a math curriculum professional development activity on August 13, 8:00-11:30 at Tefft. Contact the staff development office for more information.
Curriculum Institute for Secondary Math Teachers, August Session August 19, 8:30-11:30, Glendale High School Secondary math teachers will participate in 3 professional development sessions led by colleagues. Contact Jennifer Renegar for more information.
Everyday Math Training for New Teachers, Make Up September 2, 4:15-6:15, Tefft Teachers of elementary math who were hired after the training on August 9 or were unable to attend should participate in this make up training. Secondary Math Workshop September 8, 3:30-5:00, Tefft Secondary math teachers have an opportunity to review and learn new strategies to implement in their classroom to help support their students' prior learning, increase student achievement and student engagement. EMS Training for Kindergarten Teachers September 8, 4:15-5:15, Tefft New kindergarten teachers and others new to teaching kindergarten should be trained in administering the Emerging Math Survey (EMS). Participants should register by sending an email to Lynn Neff, including name and school. Teachers in a Title 1 school should plan to stay a few minutes extra for training specific to Title 1.
