This lesson was developed to create an online tool for teachers to present an introductory digital photography course and then use the photographs to teach a multimedia program-Photo Story 3 by Microsoft.

The lesson will take the students through the basics of digital photography and then have them apply what they know by taking on the role of a photo contest judge.  

Learners
Learners will need to know the basic word processing operations of a computer to write a defense of their judging decisions. Learners will be instructed on the basics of digital photography and Photo Story 3. (hand out for teacher)

The student will apply the critical process (describe, analyze, interpret and evaluate) to artwork.


Students will gain knowledge in the creation of photographs. They will learn the basics of composition. They will then apply their knowledge by judging a photo contest. The students will compare their results with others in their team and come to a consensus to decide on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places in the photo contest. Their decisions will be defended in a short writing exercise.
