Snack Vending Machine's
The Wellness Committee has reviewed the use of snack vending machines in the District. This review revealed a wide variety of items, some healthy and some not so healthy, multiple providers, and no consistency in the amount of rebates/commission and reporting provided to the District. Per these findings, Purchasing was asked to prepare bid specifications for one provider of snack vending machines for the entire District. The results of the proposal are as follows:
Vendor: Preferred Vending
Contact Person: Charles (Chuck) Worley
Phone Number: 831-3931
Preferred Vending will supply brand new snack vending machines at no cost to the District. The machines will take all silver coins, $1, $2, and $5 bills (both old and new) as well as $1 coins. This system detects when the product falls and, if not detected after two turns of the coil, refunds the money immediately. All machines track sales by volume and money collected using non-re-settable counters.
All snacks sold in the vending machines will fall under the District Wellness Policy. For a copy of wellness policy, contact Jean Grabeel in Health Services or Steve Smay in Food Service. Each site should be given a list of the items available for the vending machine at the beginning of each school year. This list will only contain items acceptable under the wellness policy.
Commissions received will be 20% and will be paid monthly to each site. Any location receiving an average of over $500 per month after the first 3 months will be paid twice a month with periods ending on the 15th and 30th.
Special orders, and service requests are handled immediately. Special orders for product not in stock will take a week or so to fill based on when the next shipment is due to arrive. Service requests are usually completed in less than 4 hours.
Reports will be submitted to each site monthly to maintain a record of items sold and commissions made. It will be the schools responsibility to keep a file of these. A master report will be sent to Purchasing.
School Stores and Concessions:
School Stores and Concessions can purchase from Preferred Vending also. You will need to contact Chuck Worley and make arrangement to order snacks and have them delivered. He can also provide you with a list of items available. School Stores also fall under the District Wellness Policy. Concessions must have 50% of items that fall under the wellness policy available for sale.
