Mrs. Jennifer Spilman- Instructional Support Aide

Jennifer Spilman

Hi! My name is Jennifer Spilman. I’m thrilled to be here at Harrison Elementary. Greg and I have been married 17 years and have two wonderful children. Brett will attend 7th grade at Cherokee Middle School and Lauren will attend 4th grade at Wanda Gray Elementary. We have two dogs: Casey and Buster. I love the outdoors. I enjoy walking or biking the Greenways trails, gardening, spending time on Table Rock Lake, and shopping. When I’m indoors, I love to read, journal, organize, and hang out with family.

My educational background is a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and currently, I’m attending evening classes at Drury University to complete an elementary education certificate. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a student again and learning so many new things.

My career began about 16 years ago working with women and children who were victims of domestic violence. This is when my passion for working with children began to take root. Since those early career years, this passion has grown into a motivating force in my life. Now I’m using this passion for kids and reading to make a difference in the field of education. There’s no place I’d rather be than sitting here at Harrison with a student helping them succeed with reading. I’ll be using the CARBO reading program as a tool to increase reading success. My top priority is building a caring, supportive relationship with each of my students. We will do whatever it takes to help your child succeed.

Please stop by my “Reading Garden” and say hello. I’d love to meet each one of you. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help your student succeed.
