Hello! My name is Kayla Smith, and I feel completely blessed to be a part of the team at David Harrison Elementary! I graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I have an emphasis in psychology and child development, and I feel that it is important to understand how the brain works before beginning to cultivate and enrich it.

I grew up in Southwest Missouri, and I am excited to teach here. I do not view teaching as a job, but rather a calling. I am passionate about children! I hope to instill a sense of self-confidence and a love for learning in my students. Our classroom community will provide students with the knowledge that school can also be fun!

When I'm not in the classroom I enjoy reading, traveling, and painting. I also enjoy going for walks with my dog, Beckham. I look forward to meeting all of you, and I know it will be a great year!
