Classroom Teacher: Kim Taylor
Hello! My name is Kim Taylor. I’m beyond excited to be included in this great staff, community, and to be given the opportunity to begin something new and unique!
I graduated from Missouri State with a major in Elementary Education, and then later graduated from MSU with my masters in reading. I’ve been an educator for 10 years with a beginning at Mark Twain Elementary here in Springfield. I taught both third and fourth grade there. My husband Kenny and I moved to Kansas City to be around family when we decided to start our own family. So I taught 4th grade for three years in the Park Hill School District. We missed our Springfield family and the wonderful community down here so much that we decided to move back when my husband was offered the opportunity to work at Noble Communications. I worked with the Mark Twain teachers for a year before getting my current position at Holland Elementary. I’ve taught both fourth and fifth grades at Holland.
I strive to learn new things in the teaching profession every year. I’ve had invaluable experiences with the Literacy Model for the last three years; growing in my abilities to teach reader’s and writer’s workshop. I’ve had the opportunity to help write the Social Studies curriculum guide and work with many great teachers on lesson plans. I’ve helped to make Holland a “Green School” by participating in a grant to incorporate making our earth a better place to live with our Science and Health curriculums. I’ve also spent the last two years training to become an eMINTS teacher which incorporates technology into the best research based teaching practices! Springfield schools truly offer their teachers the best opportunities to learn and grow!
I currently live in Republic with my family. My husband Kenny and I met at Missouri State 13 years ago. We love to camp and find interesting things to do as a family. We’ve been married for 9 years and have 3 children. Aiden is 5 (6 in July) and will be starting Kindergarten this fall. He loves dancing and showing everyone his new moves. Rory is 4 and will be moving up to her Pre-Kindergarten class. She constantly keeps us laughing with her silly comments. Mara is the newest member of our family at 8 months old. She’s just learned how to say Mama, and it’s my new favorite word all over again!
