Classroom Teacher: Mrs. Lowe

Mrs. LoweHello!  My name is Abby Lowe, and I am so excited to be a part of the core team of David Harrison Elementary!  I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Missouri State University in 2004. I began my teaching career teaching kindergarten at Bissett Elementary.  During my three years at Bissett, I was trained in the Partnerships in Comprehensive Literacy (PCL) Model.  I then moved to Wanda Gray Elementary, where I currently teach kindergarten.  I will complete my Master’s degree in Reading at Missouri State University in May 2009.  I love coming to school each day to see what new learning will take place for my students!  I feel very fortunate to get to be a part of each child’s first year of formal education, where I can help instill in children a love for learning.  My favorite part of teaching kindergarten is seeing students realize they have become readers and writers!  Watching the growth that takes place from the beginning of the year to the end of the year is truly amazing.

My husband, Bob, and I are both Springfield natives.  Bob and his family own a local business.  We do not have children yet, but we have a five year-old Pointer mix named Paige.  When I am not at school, I love reading, taking classes, laying by the pool, and spending time with family and friends.

I look forward to building relationships with kindergarteners and their families this fall.  What an exciting journey this will be!
