Random Acts of Greatness
In the spirit of celebration, district administrators have been asking people in our schools a few questions about their building principal:
What makes your principal a good administrator? What do you enjoy most about working with him or her? Have you seen them commit any “random acts of greatness?”
The responses have been phenomenal, heartfelt, inspiring – and we felt the need to share them on this page. So here is a summary of “Random Acts of Greatness.”
"Getting to Know You!"... A monthly profile of SPS employees

Name/job title: Dave Davis, broadcast journalism teacher at Hillcrest High School and Springfield Public Schools’ 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year.
Years at SPS: 27.
Best part of my job: “We get to see a finished product on a regular basis, and we get to see how it impacts others when they watch the show. And the coffee - we drink a lot of it.”
Favorite things to do when I’m not at work: "Watch the St. Louis Cardinals and complain about the bullpen.Or the front office. Or LaRussa - kind of depends on how the game goes. Spend time with my wife and family (listed second only because I was just thinking about last night's Cards game. Take ambitious spring trips with the HTV staff. Since it's during spring break, it's not technically AT WORK, right?”
People would be surprised to learn that: “I actually coached Hillcrest's last state championship team, the baseball Hornets of 1988.”
