Portland Elementary Awards
Missouri Gold Star School
Portland was among only 16 schools in Missouri named a Missouri Gold Star School for 2006 - 2007. This award recognizes Portland for meeting U.S. Department of Education assessment criteria as a Title I school by making steady academic imporvement in communication arts and math.
National Partnership in Comprehensive Literacy Award
For the past six years, we have been a Partnership in Comprehensive Literacy model school. During this time we have evolved into a strong professional learning community focused on the success of every student. Portland has a dedicated staff of 35. Ninety percent of our classroom teachers have been trained in the literacy model. We have a literacy coach and a reading and math specialist on staff. Portland received the prestigious National Partnership in Comprehensive Literacy Award.
