Portland Academy

Portland Academy is an after-school enrichment program serving students that are enrolled at Portland Elementary School.

Cost: Portland Academy is a FREE enrichment program available only to students enrolled at Portland Elementary.

Hours: Portland Academy is in session five days a week, and follows the district calendar. There are two 55 minute classes each day, following a healthy snack for all students in the program. Classes begin at 4:00 p.m. Students are dismissed at 6:00 p.m. Portland Academy is not held when school is dismissed early or on days when there is no school. For security purposes, all building doors except the main doors by the office are locked at 4:00 p.m. In the event of an emergency or a family need please call the office at 523-4600.

When: The 2008 - 2009 program serves 60 students per day and begins the first day of the regular school session. Registrations are accepted as received. Students may enroll from one to five days per week. If a student enrolls for a specific day, the student is expected to attend the entire session. Students will exit the building at the front double doors by the main office. Parents are asked to promptly pick up their children at 6:00 p.m.

Parent Responsibilities: Parents are expected to:

  1. Support Portland Academy by making every effort to have their child in attendance for every session in which they are enrolled.
  2. Pick their children up promptly at 6:00 p.m.
  3. Attend quarterly Portland Academy Celebrations. These events will be held on the first Saturday morning following the end of the quarter (usually a nine week quarter). This event will be from 11-12 a.m. Students will share their projects or performances with their parents demonstrating what they have learned during their explorations.
