Mission Statement: The mission of Field Elementary School is to develop creative, balanced inquirers who share a love of learning, a commitment to global responsibility, a respect for others, and a desire to take positive action in the world.
School Profile:
- With 385 students, Field offers a student-teacher ratio of 20 to 1. Our staff averages more than 13 years’ professional experience; more than 65 percent of staff have a master’s degree or higher. We are committed to supporting each student as they “Soar to Success.” We emphasize that we are in process as learners and we encourage each student to reach new goals by addressing their personal growth.
- Field is one of the first schools in Missouri to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. The IB/PYP programme is in its fifth year of implementation and received authorization in February, 2009. (See page 71 for more information about IB PYP.) PYP is more than a curriculum and instructional model. Personal development of the whole child is facilitated through the Learner Profile and Attitudes. We encourage reflection on our responsibility as global citizens and student action is encouraged. Log on to www.ibo.org for more details.
- Field students learn Spanish from a certified teacher. Lessons occur twice a week. Students listen and talk in Spanish and learn about geography and culture of Spanish-speaking countries.
- Parent involvement is high at Field and parent support enables us to provide many resources to students. We encourage parents to volunteer and join PTA.
- Field students have made Adequate Yearly Progress, a measure of No Child Left Behind, in both math and communication arts since its inception. Scores in all areas remain above district and state averages.
