School Profile:
- Forty-seven percent of our teachers have a master’s degree or higher. Teachers have an average of about 12 years’ experience and are engaged in lifelong professional learning and collaboration through the whole faculty study group. Teachers use the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) model to improve learning, instruction, achievement and student feedback in the classroom.
- Hillcrest offers 135 challenging courses in a variety of areas designed to engage students in learning and improve their skills. Courses include honors, advanced placement and dual enrollment.
- We have a number of notable programs, including a national award-winning HTV student broadcast department; Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (see page72); A+, which pays eligible students for two years of advanced studies at any Missouri community college or technical school; a partnership with Ozarks Technical Community College that allows students to split time between Hillcrest and OTC; Project Lead the Way, a math and science program that focuses on engineering (see page 78); and cooperative occupational education that provide on-the-job training and work with local businesses.
- In 2008, Hillcrest finished a $5.75-million addition that provides new science labs, renovation of old lab space for additional classrooms and remodeled areas for student services.
