School Profile:
- Sunshine Elementary School has enrollment of about 173 students. Our average student-teacher ratio is 18 to 1, enabling teachers to provide individual attention to each student.
- We offer the unique CAMP Sunshine (Communication Arts Media Program) designed to enhance the communication arts curriculum by emphasizing language, literature and writing. Students are introduced to the Spanish language and gain an understanding of foreign cultures. Students use media tools including digital camcorder, digital video editor, multi-format karaoke system, digital camera, and the SMART Board. (See page 68 for more information about CAMP Sunshine.)
- All our teachers are considered highly qualified educators with an average of more than 10 years’ professional experience. About 56 percent of our staff has one or more advanced degrees.
- Title I funding provides Sunshine with additional resources for students who struggle in reading and writing.
- Sunshine students will continue their education at Jarrett Middle School and Parkview High School.
