School Profile:
- Mark Twain is a neighborhood school with an enrollment of 464. Our average student-teacher ratio is 19 to 1 and enables teachers to provide individual attention to each student.
- Mark Twain has a strong, experienced staff that averages about 14 years in teaching. All staff is considered highly qualified by the state, and 52.7 percent of staff has completed advanced degrees.
- Mark Twain has consistently met Adequate Yearly Progress on the Missouri Assessment Program test.
- Mark Twain students attend Jarrett Middle School or Carver Middle School and Parkview High School.
- Title I funding provides Mark Twain with additional resources for students who struggle in reading and writing.
- Mark Twain has an active PTA that volunteers support for the classroom, organizes family events and raises funds for school improvements.
- There are many opportunities for students to be involved at Mark Twain. Students can work in the library, office or cafeteria. Extracurricular activities include student council, Tempos Twain singing group, and step club.
- Students and families can participate in Comets Care community service activities that help those around us. Projects have included salute the troops, donation drives, holiday food baskets and planting trees after ice storms.
