Mission Statement: The mission of Weller Elementary is to prepare all students to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers.
School Profile:
- Weller is a newly renovated, expanded neighborhood school with enrollment of 306 students. We house the BRIDGES Gifted Program and a Wonder Years preschool program for Title I students. We also have a new gymnasium, modern music room, spacious conference room, and new and renovated classrooms.
- Technology resources promote maximum student engagement and active learning. Interactive SMART Boards equip students for a rapidly changing world.
- Services for students and families go beyond the regular school day. They include clubs, tutoring, family events, sports, Pride choir, running club, step club, math and computer club, Boy and Girl Scouts, Pride Panther club, Springfield-Greene County Parks Board Community Learning in Centers for Kids, basketball, cheerleading, mentoring, parent financial classes and celebrations.
- Teachers receive top professional development including best practices in literacy, math, student engagement and continuous quality improvement.
- Positive-behavior programs and character education are important in students’ behavior and achievement. PRIDE (Pride, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Effort) behavior is promoted daily.
- Community partners ensure that all students’ needs are met. Partners include Coca-Cola, Washington Avenue Baptist Church, Ozark Council of Accounting, Bancorp South, McDonald’s, High Street Baptist Church, Caring Communities, Springfield-Greene County Park Board and Evangel University.
