School Profile:
- Established in 1947, Westport is a neighborhood school in west-central Springfield serving 442 students in pre-K through fifth grade.
- Thanks to voter support we have recently received electrical and other energy upgrades and air conditioning.
- Westport is a Title I school. We use federal funds to serve two Wonder Years classrooms for 4-year-olds and provide additional support for qualifying students in reading and math.
- Westport includes district special education classes for students needing educationally mentally handicapped or developmental speech delayed services. We also have two cross-categorical special education classes.
- All members of the Westport faculty are fully certified educators. Westport is excited to be a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) deployment school. We are implementing Continuous Classroom Improvement (CCI) in every class to increase student engagement and achievement. Through CCI teachers and students determine the class mission and weekly goals; work together to create and carry out a plan to achieve the goals based on what is effective for students; study data by discussing and charting student results; and decide how students should act upon the data to improve achievement.
