What does it mean to be a P.R.I.D.E. Panther?

pantherA strange thing is happening at Weller Elementary.......panthers are showing up all over the school.  These are not escaped animals from the zoo, as you might suppose, but rather our very own  students who exhibit P.R.I.D.E. behavior everyday.

What is P.R.I.D.E. behavior?  We are glad you asked!
P.R.I.D.E. stands for Politeness, Respect, Integrity, Discipline and Effort.  Students that exhibit these character traits show that they have P.R.I.D.E. behavior.

What is a P.R.I.D.E. panther and how can a student become one?
Any student that consistently shows P.R.I.D.E. behavior can be
nominated by their peers to become a P.R.I.D.E. panther.

Once they have become nominated, they get to proudly display their name on a colorful P.R.I.D.E. panther badge that they wear at school for 30 days.  If they maintain their P.R.I.D.E. behavior for those 30 days, then they become a “real” P.R.I.D.E. panther.

pantherA P.R.I.D.E. panther gets to have his or her name announced at Friday Sing and receives a free P.R.I.D.E. panther T-shirt to wear and to keep.  P.R.I.D.E. panthers get their picture taken and proudly displayed in our  hallways for everyone to see.  They also get their handprint put on our Wall of Fame.  Sometimes P.R.I.D.E. panthers are called upon to help out with special tasks or activities since they are responsible and trustworthy.  Other times, they get to have an extra recess.  P.R.I.D.E. panthers also have the opportunity to join the P.R.I.D.E. panther after-school club, where they participate in fun, special activities.

The best thing about being a P.R.I.D.E. panther is…just being one!
